Welcome

Benoni Town Hall Revival

I always wondered why somebody doesn’t do something about that. Then I realized, I am somebody. - Lily Tomlin

We welcome all positive, like-minded people who want to make a difference and be a part of a truly ‘feel-good’ community improvement initiative to restore the Benoni Town Hall complex. The building, along with its once prized gardens, has stood vacant for more than 9 years and is in a sad state of disrepair. This historically important building needs to be brought back to life and to be the function venue for which it was built in 1936.

It’s versatility means that every community of Benoni, let alone Ekurhuleni as a whole, will benefit from its use for many years to come. The building deserves that, every community deserves that, businesses deserve that, schools deserve that and all of us as individuals deserve that.

A Non-profit Company called Benoni Town Hall Revival (BTHR) has been formed with a view to entering into a Public Private Partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni. BTHR’s aim is to restore and upgrade the complex, sign a long term lease with the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) and continue to operate it thereafter as a function venue and community hub for all. Initial negotiations with CoE have begun in this regard but finality is still a long way off.

BTHR NPC is not aligned to any political party or organisation. It is driven by respected and well known business men and women who have their roots and hearts in Benoni. It is for the good of the whole community regardless of the politics of the day.
